Fraser International College (FIC) is a modern and dynamic educational institution committed to providing quality educational programs and support services in an environment that encourages you to achieve excellence in your studies.
Quality teaching, outstanding facilities, and academic and welfare support services allow you the opportunity and freedom to challenge yourself in a university environment. You will study a university-designed program, taught by university lecturers, in a relaxed, friendly and supportive atmosphere on the Simon Fraser University (SFU) campus. Once you have successfully completed your FIC studies, you will be prepared for entry into your program at SFU.
Students who complete ten first-year foundation courses in university transfer program at FIC are eligible for transfer to Simon Fraser University to complete a four-year degree.
While under original and preliminary discussions at SFU, the FIC proposal (then called IBT) was the source of a great deal of controversy.FIC is operated by Navitas Limited, a publicly listed Australian educational company (formally International Business and Technology Education Ltd.).
FIC currently has more than 1000 students enrolled. Students in FIC are draw from more than 35 countries/regions, though Chinese speaking students (student from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan) occupy more than 78% in student population. In 2009 Summer Semester, FIC transferred 65 students to SFU.

Fraser International College (FIC) is located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada and was opened in September 2006.
FIC is proud to be associated with SFU and works closely with the university to ensure that students receive the most up-to-date teaching, using state-of-the-art facilities, with one of Canada’s most forward-thinking and innovative institutions.

Accommodation:
FIC offers a range of accommodation options to suit your needs. These include on-campus accommodation, home stay and off-campus accommodation.
Students under 19 must be in accommodation acceptable to their parents and FIC.
SFU Residences (on-campus accommodation)
FIC students may choose to live in SFU residences at the Burnaby campus, just a short walk from your classes. The residences feature extra long beds, shared TVs, microwaves in common rooms, and wiring for high speed Internet access. Our residences include a dining hall and a meal plan that is available for the entire residence community. Life at the centre of it all, barbeque nights, movie nights and “rez” challenges are just some of the regular activities that make residence fun! Our student staff and volunteers are there to help you make the most of your residence experience. For many students, residence life is one the most memorable aspects of their undergraduate experience.
Home stay
For many students, the opportunity to stay with a Canadian family, off-campus and in the community, offers a special appeal. As a home stay student, you will have the chance to be a part of the family, taking part in family activities and celebrating special occasions.
All families are within commuting distance of SFU. Homestay includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Your homestay package may be upgraded to include high speed internet access or a private bathroom.
Off-campus accommodation
A wide range of off-campus accommodation including hostels, boarding houses, private rentals and shared accommodation is available to FIC students. The following resources are the best places to start looking for off-campus accommodation.

1 Mixed Program - Combined English language and academic program- The Mixed Program is designed specifically for those students whose English language proficiency is slightly below that required to undertake a full academic load.
2 FIC offers a University Transfer Program (UTP) Stage I, which provides a bridge between secondary school and undergraduate studies.
The UTP Stage I is designed to adequately prepare you for entry to university level programs in the Business Administration, Computing Science, Engineering Science and Arts and Social Sciences fields. The UTP Stage I consists of eight courses of study. Successful completion of the program with the necessary grades guarantees you entry to the FIC UTP Stage II.
In addition to formal contact hours, FIC provides you with extra support through individual consultation with teachers, tutorials in mathematics and English language, and self access computer laboratories.
3 University Transfer Program (UTP) Stage II programs are offered in partnership with SFU as an alternative pathway to a university degree. Courses are the equivalent to the first years of the SFU degree and are quality assured by SFU. Upon successful completion of the FIC UTP Stage II and having met the SFU specified Grade Point Average (GPA), you will be eligible to apply for transfer to selected SFU Bachelor degree programs with advanced standing status of up to 60 credit hours with the appropriate GPA.
